Samantha Clayton has been involved in the field of fitness for over ten years. Her involvement in Pilates was a natural progression from her studies in Modern and West African Dance. Samantha completed her training in upstate New York in "The Original Method".
Samantha is one of few teachers certified through The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA),the only standardized Pilates certification in North America. Samantha works primarily with clients undergoing rehabilitative treatments through a sports medicine doctor, a physiotherapist, a chiropractor, and/or a massage therapist. Based on the specific information provided by the health professional, she devises a personalized Pilates program for each client as an adjunct to their regular health regime.
Pilates provides each person the opportunity to take an active role in his/her health - through movement.
Individuals preparing for and recovering from hip replacement surgery, those dealing with sports related injuries, individuals with chronic back pain, stenosis and/orarthritis are common issues found among the people that Samantha works with on a daily basis. Her experience with, and concern for the aging demographic, led her to design a specialty class exclusively for the management of Osteoporosis("Osteopilates" classes).
Samantha is also a Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist (BCES) working with survivors post-surgery to improve range of motion, to enhance strength and to develop confidence.
She received a certificate in Human Anatomy through the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) after completing a comprehensive cadaver dissection course. She continues to build her knowledge of the body through specialty courses and holds Continuing Education Credits (CEC's) in the following: Postural Analysis, Pre & Post Natal Pilates, Pilates and Scoliosis, Pilates for Special Needs, and the Neurophysiology of Pilates.
